Humans of High River – Michael Koehler

Another 2019 Community Summit Actionator from our summit is Michael Koehler.  He shared with the community his idea to vision to in-progress for The Venue and the creation of the High River Performing Arts Society.

Michael and his family (wife Lori and daughters Anna and Grace) have lived in High River for 13 years.  He spends his days at the shop teacher at Forest Lawn High School in Calgary.   Michael told us his favourite thing about High River is that you can walk everywhere!  He also loves how connected you can be to community. (Just as several people say hi to us while we have coffee downtown)

What are you most proud of in your life?  After some moments of thought he says “having two daughters who are both creative and respectful.”

What skill would you like to learn or what’s on your bucket list?  “It’s hard to explain,” he says “but to slow down more…to recognize the people around me better – kind of like a live in the moment thing.”

If you could help change something in High River, what would it be? “I’d like to attrack more people to stay in High River.  To work, play, eat, shop etc.”
