Humans of High River – Karon Argue

Meet Karon Argue, a local illustrator and artist.  She has lived in High River for the past 18 years with her husband Darren and three children.  She is a former business owner (Gecko Graphics) and published author/illustrator.

That list alone makes Karon a pretty amazing member of our community.  However she’s got a pretty cool story that will give you even more reason to get to know this High Riverite.  She had diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma which left her blind in the left eye and only 15% vision left in her right.   Which gives her more challenge in her work and passion but does not stop her.  She’s also recieved not one but two transplants! (2015 – kidney & 2017 pancreas) Can I get an AMEN?!!

What is your favourite thing about High River? “The people for sure.  Especially since the flood our community is even more amazing and connected.”

What do you feel most proud of in your life?  “My family unit.  We have been through a lot together.”

What skill would like to learn? “Stain Glass.”

If you could help change something in High River, what would it be? “I would love to help create a more inclusive and fun environment for expression and art in High River.  Where it welcomes everyone in the community and we can celebrate all talents.”
